I started writing at the case line a few years ago to collect ideas about self expression through jewelry, highlighting my favorite designs, and encouraging people to enjoy and embrace one of our oldest known wearable art forms. Ok, now onto more urgent matters….earrings!!
I’m tired of studs and all things itty-bitty. Was I inspired by Matthieu Blazy’s first Chanel show - ok, I was!! In particular, I can’t stop thinking about these red feather earrings, only 15 of which will even be available in the US!
I love the shape, I love the scale, I love how they peek out from under a bob. The ear clip has the excitement of a chandelier, but without the fuss. These are happy earrings that would be a blast to wear and the perfect face-framers that punctuate literally anything. Soooooo come along with me as I search for a (non-$2,200!!) alternative.
My first stop is always Google Image Search. If you don’t currently use this tool, you’re welcome. My reverse-image search of the Chanel earrings led me to…..
…goose biot feathers. Now we’re talking. If you’re up for DIY, order some millinery poms and glue them to a clip on earring back (tutorial coming soon). Easy peasy.
And if that’s not your jam, I also searched using keywords anemone, starburst, blossom, and chrysanthemum and found some (more interesting?) alternatives in a variety of materials and sizes.

And, as luck would have it, my search eventually led me back to a Chanel brooch a la the vintage chrysanthemum clips above, signaling that my full circle internet deep dive was complete!!
These large cluster clips feel bold and statement-making, but easier to wear and less fancy than a dangle, drop, or chandelier. Blazy showed his with formal dresses and button-downs alike, which is just the kind of multi-use jewelry I love!

One of my goals for 2026 is to send out more newsletters and continue to experiment with my own jewelry expression.
